The Sea

The first time I saw the sea, I was on my way to womanhood. With my arms crossed tight across breast buds and toes in the cold sand, I looked out at the dark Atlantic, surveying with curiosity something I’d only ever imagined.

We Are Gardeners

…all of a sudden I knew there was God in me. I was more like Him then than I had known before. Gardeners, He and I. We are gardeners.

For the Love of Food

I love food. In the healthiest way. It’s not my main source of comfort, though it is comforting. It’s not my main source of joy, though I do find joy in it. It’s not something I feel enslaved to at all, though I’m very thankful for the freedom it gives me.

The Light

The Light brings out the poems in me. Like some distillation, some percolating process, the sun shines on my skin and then poetry begins seeping from my heart.
